Le Vigne di Alice Doro Brut 92 points
This wine´s scent brings to mind green-pear skin, thistle and nettle, an open field fresh aromas. It´s full, the flavors bold yet completely clean, yielding a juicy flavor that falls between almond and pear. Beautifully rustic, this is a wine to buy by the case for summer feasts in the country.
It reads as the name Alice but is pronounced Alee-chee and is a lovely, extra dry Prosecco full of just-cut apple, pear and floral notes.
Very refreshing and just a touch grapey with a hint of sweetness on the back palate.
It’s labelled Extra Dry 2008. I wish I had an image of the bottle/label too because it’s quite striking (ed: image now supplied). Clear glass, wide base and belly, gold label. This is brought into Australia by Mondo Imports. The full name is Prosecco di Conegliano Valdobbiadene. It’s a light, fresh‐faced style for the most part ‐ as it should be ‐ but it has a perfume to the nose, and even through the mouth, that makes it quite delicious. Flavours of fresh‐cut, tart apples and cooked apples too. Rosewater and the crust of warm white bread. I could drink a lot of this ‐ I love it. Price is right too. Drink it young and drink very well.
